March 28, 2018

CHICAGO– March 28, 2018 – Today, STATS, the worldwide leader in sports data and intelligence, announced a new partnership with the Asian Coaches Association (ACA) to sponsor this year’s Asian Coaches Mixer at the Final Four through the presentation of the first-ever “STATS SportVU Asian Coach of the Year Award.”

Founded in 2012, the ACA provides networking, support and career development for NCAA (Divisions I, II and III), NAIA (Divisions I and II), junior college and high school coaches of Asian descent. Now in its sixth year, the Asian Coaches Mixer at the Final Four brings together some of the top Asian American coaches in the country for networking and meetings. This year, STATS will sponsor the meeting by presenting the first ever “STATS SportVU Asian Coach of the Year Award.”

“STATS is honored to support all of the hardworking coaches of Asian ethnicity and heritage who are influencing countless student athletes across the country,” said Vernon O’Donnell, Senior Vice President of Data Operations and Collections at STATS. “While the STATS SportVU Asian Coach of the Year Award recognizes one individual, we are proud to support all Asian American coaches across the country.”

The Asian Coaches Mixer at the Final Four will take place on Friday, March 30 in the San Antonio Convention Center. ACA officials will conduct voting for the award finalist.

“The ACA continues to grow and we are thrilled to bring STATS on board to support the Final Four Coaches Mixer with the first ever STATS SportVU Asian Coach of the Year Award,” said Mike Magpayo, President of the ACA and Director of Operations for the University of San Francisco Men’s Basketball Team. “STATS is not only a great partner for the ACA, but a great partner for college basketball with superior data collections and advanced player tracking through products like STATS SportVU.”

Installed in venues across the country, STATS SportVU provides optical tracking data through an independent camera installation that extracts and processes coordinates of players and the ball. Recently validated through a STATS-commissioned independent study by the Technical University of Munich, STATS SportVU is available for soccer and basketball.
