Teammate Mookie Betts may be getting all the headlines after tying an MLB record with his sixth three-home run performance on Thursday night, but Corey Seager is off to a great start for the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Seager went deep in his first at-bat in the 11-2 win over the San Diego Padres after returning to the lineup following a five-game absence due to a sore back. Already in his fifth season despite being just 26 years old, the two-time All-Star shortstop leads the Dodgers with a .333 batting average and is second only to Betts with a 1.019 OPS.
He also tops the bigs in Raw Value+ and BIP+ despite only playing 14 games.
Each week throughout this 60-game sprint of a season, we’ll reveal MLB’s offensive leaders in RV+, BIP+, Contact+ and Discipline+ and the pitching leaders in Raw Value-, Command+ and Whiff+. We’ll even show off the game’s best pitch framers in our Framing Runs leaderboard from time to time (like this week).
Headlined by Seager and RV- leader Trevor Bauer, here are Stats Perform’s leaderboards for this week. Batters needed a minimum of 50 plate appearances, while pitchers needed to face at least 60 batters to qualify:
