The 11th OptaJoe Quiz saw 34 teams battle it out under the lights at the Emirates
The 11th OptaJoe quiz took place last night at the Emirates stadium in London, home of Arsenal Football Club. A highly anticipated event in the sports industry calendar, 34 teams put weeks of revision and rigorous preparation to use as they competed in what’s possibly the toughest football quiz in the nation.. With the quiz being held at the Emirates for the very first time, a new venue paved the way for new traditions as a bigger lineup with fresh faces battled to seal their reign as champions.
The quiz saw teams from across the sports industry compete, with regulars such as broadcasters BBC and BT Sport, newspapers The Times and The Telegraph, and newcomers Eleven Sports battle it out for the esteemed champion’s title.
A review of the half-time leader-board intensified rivalry between the teams, but a solid second-half performance from The Athletic meant they finished victorious.
With their newly formed, but experienced team of quizzers after a busy transfer window this summer, The Athletic dethroned the five-times champions Sky Sports Stats to take home the OptaJoe trophy, as well as the, arguably more important, bragging rights.
The full leader-board below credits all 34 teams for their participation in making the 11th OptaJoe quiz a success.
