Inside the 15th OptaJoe Quiz: World Cup Edition Recap

By: Erin Lent

Last week, Stamford Bridge played host to the 15th annual OptaJoe Quiz – a night that brought together football media and content professionals for the ultimate pub quiz experience, celebrating the beautiful game.

This year’s edition paid tribute to football’s grandest stage, the World Cup, and tested knowledge across domestic and European competitions to international tournaments and iconic moments in football history.

A fiercely contested evening

Hosted by Opta’s Jonny Whitmore and Siobhan McCall, teams battled through ten rounds that sparked plenty of debate and tension along the way. The competition was tight throughout, with the top spots changing hands multiple times before the final scores were revealed.

When the dust settled, The Athletic were crowned champions, securing their third overall OptaJoe Quiz title after another impressive performance. Sky Sports STATS and TNT Stats followed closely behind in second and third place, respectively, with just six points separating the top three teams in what proved to be one of the most competitive editions to date.
