CHICAGO – September 24, 2019 – Stats Perform, the revolutionary leader in sports AI and data, announced that Chief Scientist Dr. Patrick Lucey will deliver keynote remarks at the Strata Data Conference at the Javits Convention Center in New York, N.Y. on Wednesday, September 25.
Dr. Lucey will deliver his presentation, “Interactive sports analytics,” to discuss how AI, machine learning and computer vision are transforming the ways coaches and analysts can break down the modern game. As the head of the AI team at Stats Perform, Dr. Lucey will demonstrate some of the latest AI innovations in sports, including AutoSTATS, which automates player tracking by capturing the X/Y coordinates of players and recording their movements around the court or field directly from broadcast video. Dr. Lucey will also discuss the latest visual search and ‘ghosting’ capabilities, which allow coaches and analysts to draw up a play and instantaneously find all similar plays while conducting analytics on those plays to determine their likelihood of occurrence and success rate.
“Whether you’re looking at the effect of ‘Moneyball’ on baseball, or the play call in your average football game, data is transforming the way we prepare for and analyze sports,” Dr. Lucey said. “Sports offer the perfect platform for AI data analysis, as the game can be broken down into several patterns that lead to varying results. By leveraging AI, machine learning and computer vision, we can break down the game like never before and provide accurate predictions and recommendations for coaches, analysts and fans. I look forward to breaking down some of these new technologies and where the industry as a whole is headed.”
