STATS and Resonant Sports Become Team Performance Partners of Club América

February 9, 2018

CHICAGO/MEXICO CITY (February 9, 2018) – Today, STATS, the world leader in sports data and intelligence, and Resonant Sports announced a new partnership with Club América to become their team performance partner and to install STATS SportVU®, an in-stadium camera installation for enhanced player tracking, in Club América’s Estadio Azteca.

Club América is one of the most successful teams in Mexican football’s Liga MX, the top professional league in the country, winning a record seven CONCACAF Champions Cup/Champions League titles, two Copa Interamericana Cups and one CONCACAF Giants Cup. The team plays at Estadio Azteca, an 87,000-capacity stadium located in Mexico City.

STATS SportVU—which was recently validated through a STATS-commissioned independent study by the Technical University of Munich—delivers tracking through an independent camera installation that extracts and processes coordinates of players and the ball. Backed by STATS’ award-winning data-science team and engineers, the installation will offer Club América advanced analytics to measure and analyze player performance and fitness, as well as team formations and tactics.

“Club América has been a dominating force throughout Liga MX, and it is important that they continue to implement new resources and analytics to measure and improve team and player performance throughout their Apertura and Clausura seasons,” said Richard Henderson, Chief Revenue Officer at STATS. “With the power of STATS SportVU, the team and players will have stronger tools to analyze and prepare for matches. We are thrilled to offer this service through our strong partnership with Resonant Sports, which will implement STATS SportVU data through their team performance solutions for Club América.”

Club América views the move as the latest step in an effort to stay ahead of the competition.

“Thanks to this partnership with STATS, we have access to multiple tools that will allow us to have more and better information to make decisions pre, post and during matches,” said Mauricio Culebro, Operational President of Club América. “We are convinced that the use of analytics in football is fundamental, and we will work together with STATS to develop new tools that allow us to have a new competitive advantage.”

Resonant Sports partners with brands, media companies, football clubs and federations to provide digital services for team performance and fan experience in Latin America.

“América is a legendary team, and we are eager to work with them to use STATS’ software and data to contribute to their team performance decisions. We are convinced that technology is now indispensable to win championships, and a fundamental competitive tool for the coaching team,” said Gonzalo Cilley, Resonant Sports founder and CEO.

Installation of the STATS SportVU camera system is already underway and will soon provide world-class data as the team competes in the LigaMX Clausura and the CONCACAF Champions League 2018.
