Stats Perform – The 2010s in Numbers

We collected the X,Y coordinates of the 49,668 goals scored across the top five European leagues

704.

Messi & Ronaldo scored 1.4% (704) of all goals in the top five European leagues in the 2010s. That’s the same tally as Arsenal managed as a team (704) and more than Manchester Utd (688), Roma (687), Tottenham (657) and Atletico Madrid (626).

Cristiano Ronaldo scored 48 goals, including 10 penalties, on his way to winning the 14/15 La Liga Golden Boot.

Manchester City managed a goal difference of +503 in the Premier League this decade; the best ever goal difference by a top-flight team in a single decade of English league history.


We mapped the pass locations of every one of the 15,655,892 passes made in the same time period

20,940.

Sergio Busquets completed the most passes this decade across the top five European leagues (22,940). In fact, Barcelona completed more passes in the final third (62,092) than Leicester did in the whole pitch (62,007) over the last decade.

Sergio Busquets completed 173 passes vs. Levante on 11th May 2011, his most in a single league game this decade.

 


We captured each of the 502,471 fouls committed during the decade

44.

Nicolas Anelka committed the most fouls without getting booked (44 fouls) over the past decade in the top five European leagues.



We broke down every inch of the 580,851 rushing yards in the NFL this decade

9,500+

LeSean McCoy (10,438), Frank Gore (9,893) and Adrian Peterson (9,786) all ran for more than 9,500 rushing yards this decade – no other player had more than 8,000.

858.

Larry Fitzgerald had a league-best 858 receptions in the decade and was the only player to have at least 50 in every season of the 2010s.



We analysed each of the 213,219 runs scored in MLB

903.

Mike Trout was the only player to cross the 900-run mark during the decade (903) despite his career not starting until 2011.

346.

The only player with at least 20 home runs in all 10 seasons was Nelson Cruz, whose 346 home runs overall for the decade led the MLB.



We captured the shot location of every single one of the 2,482,585 points scored in the NBA

James Harden (19,578), LeBron James (19,372) and Kevin Durant (18,534) combined for 2.3 percent of the league’s points (57,484).


We collected the X,Y coordinates of every one of 65,730 goals scored in the NHL

Alex Ovechkin has scored 437 goals this decade. The only player within 100 of him is Steven Stamkos (363).



We gathered the granular details of every single one of the 140,435 tackles made by Tier 1 teams

Scottish brothers Jonny and Richie Gray set the two longest runs without missing a tackle by any Tier One player in Test rugby in the last decade – Jonny Gray made 146 tackles between October 2015 and February 2017, while Richie Gray made 128 between February 2016 and March 2018.



We captured the shot location of every one of the 1,289,299 runs scored across men’s internationals

20,960.

Virat Kohli has posted more runs since the start of 2010 than any other batsman across all international formats; he’s the only player to register over 20,000 runs in that time.
