Stats Perform’s Premier League Fantasy Picks: Martial, Vardy in Scoring Form

By: Stats Perform

Stats Perform’s Opta data suggests Manchester United’s Anthony Martial, Leicester City’s Jamie Vardy and others could be valuable Premier League fantasy assets for Matchweek 11.

When scouring the Premier League fixture list for a likely source of goals, Chelsea’s away games are a wellspring this season.

The Blues have plundered 16 in their last four domestic away games, with Tammy Abraham’s form on the road integral to their success.

With Chelsea away at struggling Watford this weekend, Abraham leads the line in our Premier League Fantasy Picks.

Goalkeeper:

Ederson, Manchester City

Manchester City have scored five Premier League goals without reply since they suffered a shock home defeat to Wolves on October 6.

Their clean sheets against Crystal Palace and Aston Villa took Ederson’s tally of shut-outs to 41 since his league debut for the club in August 2017.

The Brazilian has kept five clean sheets this season – more than any other goalkeeper in the division.

Defenders:

Ben Chilwell, Leicester City

When Chilwell opened the scoring for Leicester City at Southampton, he could hardly have anticipated the goal glut that would follow.

The Foxes defender contributed two assists as Brendan Rodgers’ men plundered nine without reply at St. Mary’s, taking his tally of goal involvements this season to four (one goal, three assists).

No other Premier League defender has been involved in more goals in 2019-20 and Chilwell’s confidence is sky high.

Joao Cancelo, Manchester City

Cancelo came on as a second-half substitute as Manchester City beat Southampton 3-1 in the EFL Cup on Tuesday.

The Portugal full-back will be confident of helping the champions to another win over the Saints in the Premier League on Saturday, given that City have not lost a home league game against a side starting the day in the relegation zone since November 2008.

Southampton are 18th in the table following their 9-0 drubbing at home to Leicester City, and could do without going up against City’s miserly defence.

Midfielders:

Anthony Martial, Manchester United

Martial made amends for his penalty miss against Norwich City by scoring Manchester United’s third in a 3-1 victory at Carrow Road.

The France international has had a hand in 16 goals in his past 20 Premier League starts (13 goals, three assists) and his form will be important to United’s chances of a result at Bournemouth.

Raheem Sterling, Manchester City

Sterling enjoys home matches against Southampton and will be raring to go against them after being rested for the EFL Cup victory in midweek.

The England winger has been involved in eight goals in his past five matches on home turf versus the Saints, across his spells at City and Liverpool.

Forwards:

Tammy Abraham, Chelsea

Abraham has scored eight goals in 10 Premier League appearances this season, six of which have come away from home.

No other Premier League player has scored as many away goals this season and he will be confident of finding the net at Watford.

Jamie Vardy, Leicester City

A run of six goals in his past four Premier League games has made Vardy the division’s top goal-scorer, with nine strikes in total this season.

What’s more, he has scored nine goals from just 20 shots, giving him the highest conversion rate (45%) of any player to have had at least 10 attempts at goal this term.
